Getting away is one of life’s great pleasures. Stepping away from work and the drudgery of everyday life is something we all need every now and then to help us recharge, relax and feel ready to take life head on. But what if you brought your holiday closer to home? Many holiday makers are foregoing the stress of an overseas trip and a recent holiday survey showed that 57% of returning British travellers actually regretted their decision to go abroad. With that in mind, your very own holiday home may be the perfect thing you need for a stress-free holiday with the family.

Here are 3 reasons to invest in a holiday home and take a trip closer to home.

It’s ideal for a short trip

Yes, an epic three week adventure across Thailand is undoubtedly a fantastic way to spend your summer holiday. But every holiday can’t be like that and sometimes you’re just looking for a long weekend getaway or a few nights away midweek. Owning your own holiday home not far from where you live affords you the opportunity to get away for a short trip, often without booking any days off work, and without the stress and exhaustion of a long journey that’s almost as long as your entire getaway.

You don’t have to leave the family pet behind

One of the most heartbreaking and stressful parts of holidaying abroad is having to leave the family dog behind. Finding someone you trust to take care of your beloved pet whilst you’re away can be difficult and even if you find a reputable dog sitter, you need to factor in the extra cost. A week away could add around £200 onto your trip if you need to pay for a dog sitter. Even if you do want to take your dog abroad, travelling long distances with a pet can be tricky and even if you’re in the comfort of your own car, you’ll need to make frequent toilet breaks and check that your little furry friend is coping comfortably with the trip. And that’s not all, bringing animals into a foreign country requires certain vaccinations and pet passports before you arrive. Whereas a short jaunt to your holiday home is a no muss, no fuss experience for you and your pet.

You’ve got a true home from home

Holidaying abroad can be exciting but it can also be unpredictable. We’ve all had that experience of looking at lovely glossy hotel pictures that get you all excited for a luxury trip away. Only to turn up to find those pictures were taken 10 years ago and seem to have had some sort of photoshop tricks added to them. It can be disheartening when you’re disappointed with your accommodation or even the resort you’ve chosen, especially when you’ve spent a lot of money on the holiday and it’s the only one you’re going on that year. But with a holiday home not far from where you live, you can go and take a look at the home and the area before you buy and you know what to expect every time you visit. There are no nasty surprises waiting for you and truly get a real home from home.
